“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
As Christians called by the love of Christ, we should realize that we can only succeed in this life through Christ who strengthens us. We do not succeed because we are the wisest, strongest, smartest, but time and chance happen to us all. God uses people that are weak, noble to do his mighty deeds.
Throughout the Bible, we see God using people who are considered small, weak, poor and the name goes on and on. David was a shepherd boy made King, Esther a peasant girl made queen, Jacob a mummy's boy made heir.
When God had wanted to save the Israelites from the hands of the Midianites army, he did it with 300 men who couldn’t fight and had not swords, but trumpets. But the Israelites army conquered the hundreds of thousands of the Midianites army. We also saw this in the book of Joshua when God caused the walls of Jericho to fall at the blowing of the trumpet. God's power is made manifest in our weaknesses.
For God to act in our lives, we need to:
1. Realize our weaknesses and the emptiness that we feel and not try to disguise it. Gideon recognized his infirmities and needed to be sure that God was going with him.
2. Allow God to be enthroned in our life. Moses refused to go and told God that he will not take the children to the promise land if God does not go with them.
3. Be connected with the Holy Spirit. It is not how hard we prayed. It is the Holy Spirit that utters prayers for us when we are weak. It intercedes for us and gives us the strength we need.
What are you called today, weak, a nobody, stupid, good for nothing, crazy? That may be what the world knows. But remember that the Holy Spirit can transform that which is called weak, good for nothing and so on to a great man or woman, wise, rich and a hero. For God is with us and the Spirit of God helps our infirmities. Therefore, brethren, we should not weep and cry as though we do not have hope. For Christ has taken away our infirmities and has made us whole.
May the Lord bless you!
